Kaolin and kaolin-heparinase thromboelastograms were drawn 70 min after portal clamping (anhepatic phase) and during significant hemorrhage. The combination of hyperfibrinolysis, with a short R-time, suggests disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The short R-time on the kaolin tracing indicates a lack of heparin effect.
